Sudden step back, especially in terms of Cannonau idea. Far from modern conceptions of wines where elegance and typicality are the master, just like a Burgundian style wine, this Cannonau brings with it all the usual traits of the denomination, at least the ones we were used to know up to few years ago.

Quindi, in soldoni, ti rimane il ricordo di una potenza notevole e di un ritorno alcolico davvero imponente, in alcuni tratti eccessivo. L’inizio non è per niente male, un bel naso pieno, magari non ampissimo ma sicuramente di notevole fattura, ove frutto nero e soprattutto una bella nota di caffè tostato lasciano presagire una bocca voluminosa. E invece in bocca, soprattutto nel finale del sorso, la componente materica spesso non riesce a pesare ed assorbire un impatto alcolico decisamente imponente. Peccato, anche per il bel finale persistente e scuro, ma la scompostezza che ho notato in alcuni passaggi non lo fa godere fino in fondo.

So, in a few words, it left in me the memory of a great power and a very impressive alcoholic return, excessive in some moments. The beginning is not bad, a nice and full nose, maybe not very large but certainly of considerable impact, where black fruit and especially a nice roasted coffee notes portend a massive mouth. But in the mouth, especially in the final of the sip, the material component is often unable to weigh and absorb a very strong alcoholic impact. Too bad, even for the beautiful and persistent dark ending, but the lack of composure that I have noticed in some passages makes this wine hard to be enjoyed simply.

For my part I could definitely do better in matching with the food, this bottle needs a beautiful shoulder to move forward. I have to try again it …
